The original one I have has part number 389905 molded into it.
Bill's NOS one sure looks like the Metro style. Perhaps there was an early and a late style?
Bill, is the part number molded into the inside of your NOS boot?

Eric, no mine does not have a number inside. I looked in my parts book and your number is for 68/70 3/4 speed less consolette. 384431 is for a 65/7 3/4 speed less consolette. I bought this one from GM through a local GM dealer in Omaha in the late 80s, but never could find the number. Thanks Bill.

Bill, how different is the 68-70 than the 65-67?i have one of the Metro reproes i bought last year thinking it`ll fit my 67 but it seems the ring on the bottom might be too small?

    Thanks

George, not sure of the difference, other than the 65/7 should have a round hole for the shifter handle. I bought this one years ago for my 67 and it had a 69 factory 4 speed shifter. I have found a 67 shifter but not sure if I would use it. I was thinking I was going to put a console in it but not sure. Either way I think the best of both worlds would be a Hurst with the adaptor for the 65/67 shifter handle. It would appear stock and shift well. Thanks Bill Sangster.

See if you look at the that Metro boot and if you look at the trim ring that holds the boot to the floor the shape of the ring doesnt look like it would line up to it to screw it down, the underside of the boot looks like a bigger pattern than that trim ring?did 65-67 and 68-72 use the same trim rings to hold th boots in place?if you ever want to sell that shifter please keep me in mind i`m looking for a shifter handle.

    Thanks

I think you are right Bill. That is exactly what I'll soon have but with the consolette. The NOS boot I have was only $25. PN 3842926. :Brow:

George, I have a ring from a 68 and the one out of my 67, not sure of it being the original because it has a 69 trans, but the rings are the same. and the screw holes line up with both the smaller one out of the 67 and the NOS larger one I posted. Looking a the parts books it shows two different ring numbers, if I am reading it correct. I have one in a 66 but have not got to it to see if it is different. The 66 and 7 were non console cars and the 68 was a console. Thanks Bill.
