67 Skylark/GS Ragtop - Interior metal colors?

I've looked at alot of pictures, and I'm still not sure what is "correct"...

OK, I'm going to be painting my 67 ragtop champagne mist, and I'm switching to a black bucket seat interior (black seats, console, door panels, carpet, etc..all black interior)

The interior areas I'm unsure about are:
The steel part of the dash (lower half including glovebox and ashtray)
The top of the doors (above the door panels)
And right above the rear side panels (below the quarter windows)

What color should they be? Should they be black to match the interior, or should they be champagne mist to match the exterior?

I'm thinking they should be black, but I'm finding alot of cars that have those areas painted the body color. And it's hard to guess what's "correct" when your looking at pictures on the internet.

    Penny for your thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rick,

everything in my car was painted black. had to be done from the factory that way, because my car was never painted.

    Thanks Michael
    How about these assumptions:
The underside of the trunk lid should be body color
The underside of the hood should be black
The strip of metal just above the rear bumper that you can see when you open the trunk should be black. (between the tail lights)
The front fenders are completely body color, even inside the engine bay.
And the wheel wells are black.
    Do all those sound true?

    Hi Rick,

the edges under the hood were the body color, the center was painted black.
the underside of the trunk was painted the body color.
yes, between the taillights mine was black.the fenders are the body color on the inside, and the wheel wells are black.

    Hey Rick,

I assume your car is an American made model....? If so then Michael is correct. If it was assembled in Canada, then that all changes....Canadian cars had the underside of the hood, trunk and firewall painted body color, but inner fenders and rad support were black. As Far as the interior goes...Michael is again correct. All exposed areas such as lower dash, tops of the doors etc should be a semi gloss black. The top of the dash though ( between the pad and the windshield) should be flat black....Eliminates glare and reflection onto the inside of the windshield.

    Thanks for the input Brent.
This one isn't a Canada car (at least I don't think it is). I was aware of the firewall being body color on Canada built cars, but I didn't know about the others. Interesting stuff.

This car isn't going to be 100% "correct", nor will it be any type of show car, but I'm at least giving an effort to keep it "mostly" correct. Or at least "correct enough" for my likes, and "nice enough" to enjoy it this summer instead of staring at a pile of parts in the shop!
