Hi guys, It's been a long time since I have been here. My GS has been on a back burner while I was getting my woodworking shop up and running. I recently got the GS back from the body shop (Impatient Creations in Alabaster, Al.). My brother-in-law built a mild 455 for it as I took the original motor/trans out to keep the miles off of it. I have dressed the motor to appear as a stock 400. I have an Edelbrock Performer manifold on it (painted buick red). I replaced the Quadrajet, but it needs complete rebuilding. My friend gave me a brand new Edelbrock 1411 Permormer carb, which really seems to be working great. The problem is that my aircleaner base doesn't fit anymore, and if I put a spacer on it, the hood hits it. I know I can revert back to the Qjet, but if I decide to keep the Edelbrock, does anyone out there have a solution? Thanks, Michael
I ran into the same problem and ended with just a 2 inch drop base air cleaner. I did meet a guy here in MN that custom made a base for his, but he said there was alot of trial and error involved. If you figure out something that works please share! Good Luck
