I currently have two 67 Convertibles in my garage. One I started as a Skylark to GS clone project. Since starting that project (Frame Off) I picked up a real 67 GS convertible. Now the first project will be a nice driver until I can finish the Real GS.

Question. I recently purchased a 67 parts car with 40,200 miles with a nice running 340/300 transmission. I also have a 71 455 motor that I can use in the Clone project.

How much difference in value or resellability would the Clone GS Have using 455 turbo 400 be VS the 340 powerglide?

    Thanks

Scott judging from what I've seen on eBay in the past 2 years as soon as people see a big block in a Skylark with a shiney paint job the car sells for more $$$ than if you spent the $$$ to make a clone.

    I see your point.

I recently sold my drag car that had a 580ci chevy that was over 800hp.

So to me the 455 or 340 is not a big difference.

But i see your point that to the ebay buyer the 455 seems much more impressive.

As far as the clone thing I think it is much less effort to go GS as there is only wheelwell chrome and a different grill and hood. And the car is much better looking.

So that's one vote for the 455. zero for the 340.

First off, if it is a clone anyway, go with the big motor. Also, being a clone, there were NO 67 GS convertibles with anything but a 400. A 455 can be made visually indescernable from a 400 (other than the numbers) A "clone GS" with a 340 is virtually worthless. The big block conversion is vital to any value in the clone. ANY small block is a huge loss of value.
Lastly, at ST300 has nothing in common with a Powerglide except the number of speeds.

    2 for 455 zero for 340

I didn't know the 300 trans was different than the glide. I assumed that it was like the 400 BOP and chevy turbo 400 sister thing.

Yeah I might as well do it up with the 455 a little cam, shift kit and some 3.55 gears.

    Thanks
