I need the steel brackets that hold the P/S pump. I have the original aluminum triangular mount, but my pump filler lid sits 6" above the mount and causes the belt to rub the water pump. Original photos show the pump sitting much lower and that explains why I have to grind the lower web of the water pump and still get belt rub there.
Appreciate any help to fix this.

Gary..I have several sets of power steering pumps/brackets.. IF you wouldnt mind... include a pix of WHAT YOU NOW HAVE...and I will check it against WHAT I HAVE..and most likely, I will have one you dont, which could then be sent to you so you can have what you dont have but need, that I wont need that you can use...because I wont. er. :Brow: um. :eek2: Well, you get the idea.

I.m unable to get photo's to work on this site, but for starters, my pump is at a little angle leaning out and the pump shaft is barely below the highest bolt on the aluminum mount.
I'll see if my can get a picture on an email for you.
Thank you so much for responding. I have hope of fixing this problem.

    Hey Ray.
You nailed it buddy! I copied your picture on the right side, cut them out indiividually and stacked them over a light to match up the holes and slots. Then I went out to my car and matched the angle of the slots and top piviot bolt and bingo! This will drop my pump a good 2 or 3 inches.
I'll be so glad to fix this problem.
Gary Steele "BUQUICK" told me about his same problem on his 67 and it freeks me out that both of our 67's were identically out of whack. He said he searched for the right brackets and fixed his. That's what brought me here.
I really appreciate the help guys.
Wheelz, you were the "first responder", you got these?

Here are photos of the brackets on a '67 GS 400. Do your brackets look like this? If you have the other style that raise the pump, the belt will rub the water pump. Heck even with these brackets the belt still barely touches the T/A pump on my car. The belt is 51" long.

With the old brackets on my car (which were incorrect) the pump sat higher, and the belt would rub the water pump unless I completely cut one of the lower ribs off on the water pump. Well I recently installed a T/A high performance water pump on my car and it doesn't have ribs that I can cut off, instead the pump is shaped different and it I cut enough to clear the belt, I would have ruined the pump. So with these correct '67 GS 400 brackets, the pump was lowered about 2" and the belt just BARELY touches the pump now. These brackets might be the same on other years too, I'm not sure.

Gary I don't have them. Just the pics. I went through the same scenario looking for them last year for a 455/67 combo. The Parts Place repo them but they are listed as 69/70 P/S brackets. PN ST5192S.

    Hey Gary Steele,
I was just talking about you!
Looking at your center picture...My pump pulley shaft-nut is almost level with the top left aluminum mount bolt in the picture. That is really high.
Ray's bracket photos are way different than my brackets. He showed for real what I need. And I can see by your photo, Gary, how much better your pump is lowered on your engine.
Thanks for clueing me in on the bracket fix, the 51" belt tip and the good photos to proove it.
How did this happen to Gary-me, and Gary-you on both our 1967 GS"s?

PS Gary, send me your address for the Star Wars knob and heat riser spacer.

Thank you for the pictures and vendor tip Ray.

I've had my 67 GS for 35 years and puzzled over this problem, thinking it was a factory fluke.
Now I see a solution after all these years.
(Actually, I'd like to get everything perfect before I die!) HA

I guess both our '67s were monkeyed-with before we got 'em. When we bought our car in 1988 the power steering had already been swapped and apparently they just swapped the entire pump with brackets still attached. We couldn't find the right brackets at the time so a die grinder solved the problem for 23 years, until I installed the T/A water pump last week. Fortunately I had gotten the right 1967 model brackets a few years ago, but had just not ever put 'em on. The previous belt that was used with the incorrect brackets was about 2" longer because the pump sat higher.

I'll send you my address in an email right now....

Here's a few shots of the pump my unmolested 67 rag 4spd GS400. "Future project". The belt is a real tight fit about a 1/4" clearance.

Just for reference, here was my pump with the INCORRECT brackets. Notice how much higher it sat. Is this what your pump looks like right now?

Dam Right, Gary! That booger sits way up just like that. The filler cap is almost 6" above the top bolt of the aluminum mount.
Thanks for the photos Gary & Ray, I'm 100 percent sure what's going on now.

That looks the same as the P/S on my 67 rag Skylark (factory 300).

ahh, so the incorrect brackets on both mine and Gary B's '67s are likely from a small block. When the original pump went bad, the previous owner probably went to a junkyard and grabbed one from another Buick and it just happened to be a small-block.Thanks for the photos Ray!

The 300,340,350 uses the SBB,the BBB uses bigger brackets, the stile is the same, only the size changes.I think the Parts Place makes and sells those outer brackets, the aluminum center bracket is the same for both. They are pricy, but if you need them...BrunoD.
