    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

Guys.. one of my club members, Cecil, sold his original owner, numbers matching, everthing as original as I've ever seen, 67 GS Coupe that I have wanted for well over 20 years!! However, the timing was just not in my favor. Cecil met a fello at a local car show, and was talking about his collection in his garage at home, including his 67 GS Coupe. This NY fello, had a brother whom was immediately interested. Several hours later, they bought the 67 right out from under me... for 10k. Ya. 10 grand. :Dou: I was really quite upset but I understood ya gotta sell whilest the iron is hot.. it wasnt meant to be. BUT still . . . .:ball:

PLEASE keep a lookout for this car to show up in the northeast soon. I imagine it will be detailed and easily resold for 22-28K! I believe its Sapphire Blue, black vinyl top, auto, console, tach, buckets...a/c, in EXTREMELY GOOD SHAPE especially since it was NEVER restored... and this breaks my heart I wasnt even given a chance at this 67 GS. It simply all took place way too fast.

Oh well...it will be a nice car for someone up there...

    No I dont Chris.
In fact, just because the buyers were from NY...doesnt necessarily mean thats where the car will end up, right? They may already had a buyer on the hook which is why they moved so fast.
    I'm just guessing here guys.

EVEN IF I would've been invited to throw all my cards on the table and counteroffer, I still wouldn't have had 10K to play, know~whut~I~mean??

....still somewhat disheartened by all this. :(

Definitely understand what you mean Wheelz. Something I want always comes up when I'm running low on funds.

X2, will have to keep an eye out for it at the shows if it comes this far North.

Speaking of losing on good deals. I just passed up on a 1988 CCLB dually Chevy truck with Alcoa wheels and 6 new tires, 454/rebuilt TH400 with gear vendors overdrive unit, and rear air bags. Truck was from California and no rust, $2500.00. I was after it for the air bags for my D-Max and the gear vendors overdrive for the Skylark. I figured i could have put the tranny tailshaft back on and cut a new driveshaft and shipped it back down the road for the same money. Tires had to be worth $1500 alone no less a running rust free 1 ton truck with rebuilt tranny.

That's the way it seems to go Wheelz. Parts too. When they're available you aint got no munny. When You got munny, nothing you want is available. But it's getting harder to get munny in the First place.

    PONCH :af:

When was the last time you offered the owner 10K for it ?

Im not trying to be mean or disrepectful but it just irks me when people say they've been "chasing" after something for xx years and have never thrown down a wad of cash seeing if the person picks it up.

If you want something ... make the move !!

Alan ... not sure of his situation but sometimes you have to factor in your ongoing relationship with the owner...which this flipper does not. Was the car known to be for sale ?

I've been waiting a long time for a friend to decide to sell....and I think it would be rude to let him know that i want his car....so I wait. And if at some point he sells on a whim to some random guy w/o ever telling me he's selling, I'd be annoyed....but that doesn't mean I should offer him money for the car now. it can be tricky.

But if you dont express an interest you stand a good chance of loosing out.I dont find it rude at all to ask if a car is for sale. Some one like Jason might buy it for half of what it's worth.:pp

True Jamie but I don't want him to think I'm more interested in his car than his friendship. I don't want to possibly spoil that...so i wait.

... nothing wrong with looking your friend straight in the eyes and saying "When the time comes ... figure out your price and PLEASE come to me first"

That said, Wheelz refered to the owner as a "Club Member" ... not as a close friend and I do agree there are degrees of etiquette differing the two.

Point being, if you want something, make your intentions known. thinking them inside your head is not action taken

    THE STORY.

I met Cecil, the original owner of this car, back in 92 as I was starting our local Buick Club. I chased him down and invited him to join. He did. We became real good friends over the years. Heck I even found him an original wheel bearing for this car. Last year, I was at his house and we discussed him considering selling the car, and he indicated I would be first he would contact because HE KNEW I would take care of it. A few weeks ago, February, he and I talked about repainting the car, even tho it was nice enuf without it, and he didnt want to sell it until is was perfect. Thats how he was.

Late Feb, we talked again and he had just bought a 2013 Trans Am... and he decided he wasnt going to sell his PRIDE 67 GS. He appologized for getting me excited about finally getting the chance to own his car.

He took his NEW Trans Am to a car show and while there, met a collector of old musclecars. They started talking and Cecil mentioned his 67 GS.

Cecil called me to say he may've made a mistake about saying anything to this fello, because the guy was on his way over to take a closer look. However, he mentioned he honestly didnt think the guy was serious.

Two hours later, I got the call that the buyer offered 10K CASH and caught Cecil off guard because that was the same amount I offerd him in the fall.

The buyer was at that right place at right time and I wasnt.

Cecil said it broke his heart selling the car out from under me, unfortunately I didnt have the 10K anyway.

..and now, you know the resssst of the story.
