This car was already at the local shop for two years before I took mine for the resto.. 2 1/2 years later he's ready to take it home. Interior & misc. trim are all that's left. Owner believes this is 1 of 22 made & 1 of 2 imported into Canada for 1967. Lots of effort & it really shows on the finished car.
    Original 427 4 speed car.

    WOW, very nice. :TU:

Was it an original 427 dual quad car?? I think that would've made it an "R" code, if I recall my Ford engine codes correctly. :Do No:

Has the owner got a Marti report on it?

I don't know about the dual carbs.. Owner is a real detail guru, however. Both rear shocks are NOS but slightly different. He's asked me to look for another in Carlisle next week. Asked about what reasonable $$ would be......" Just buy it if you can". The paint high on the firewall, under the hood is original. Was in excellent shape & not altered.

    I don't believe it is a cyclone, but a Comet 202....Cyclones didn't have a post, I don't believe.

I believe Mark is correct here.I had a 67 Cyclone 390 4 speed and was stupid and sold it for 500 bucks waaaayyy back when.I was an idiot and beat the snot out of the 390 and blew it up,so I had to switch it over to a 302..Luckily,there was a Comet Caliente with a 289 in the junkyard to give me the donor parts for the swap..I have never seen that car since and I never even took a picture of it.It was a blue green color and black interior. :(

Definately wearing the 202 badges. Possibly I was mis-informed on the model. Owner adamant about the original 427 & build count. I'll be talking to him Mon./Tues.. & confirm.

I've seen one or two Cyclone 427's in my day, but never a Comet 427 R car... that is tooo cool... is it a 4.30 geared Drag Pac combo? Econoline bucket's, or a bench?? carpet or rubber mat? radio? heater? staggered rear shocks?

I do believe it is a very real, very rare car. Had a 67 Caliente, hot rodded, in 73.... I really liked the car, still have a book of pictures.

Rubber floor & radio delete for sure. Can't be certain on heater delete.Pretty sure owner said it is a bench seat car. My car goes in tonight for some minor touch-ups while I'm away. I'll take a closer look at it.
Engine is crammed in there so tight the factory had drilled holes in the fender wells to accomodate the header bolts. I'll see if i can get a pic tonight.

    Mark,
Looks to be the same colour as the local car, owner here is Peter Wilson.
Talked to him tonight for a few minutes. Took a pic of the factory holes in the wheel wells for header bolt clearance. Pic is almost black, no detail.
Anyway, Peter straightened me on a couple questions I had.
It's a COMET, not a Cylone as I had thought.
Original 427 R code with original dual quads ( 715cfm each) on a dual plane intake.
1 of 22 made refers to the sedan body style. Cyclone & Caliente were the hardtops.
Car is radio delete but does have a heater. Only 3 were heater delete.
Rubber floor is a tan/white pebbled mix & it is a bench seat car.
Shocks in the rear are staggered.
Car sold new as "Super Stock" in 1967. " Drag Pack" not available until late '68 & early '69.
NHRA had penalized these cars due to light weight vs. the hardtops, made them not as competitive. Owner states they ran just as well with a single carb..
Factory gears were 3.89 open. Peter currently has 4.57 gears with posi..
Cost him a tank of gas just to get across the Harbour Bridge here in Saint John.
He has a fibreglass hood with 2 scoops but will install a steel hood without scoops for now.
It will be back at the shop over the Winter once he gets it running.

Thanks for the update Steve, awesome that it is a factory "R" code car.

Bet there's more than a few of us who'd want it in their garages. :beer

Biggest problem with this car was put to me by the owner in his own words. He sees me driving mine a bit on weekends & sunny evenings. Usually one of the kids with me.
I have a couple small rock chips on the bottom side of the rockers & always a few bugs on the windshield. Maybe a small coffee stain on the floor. I'll take it back in a few years for a repaint when it needs it.I've put over 1200 miles on mine this Summer.
He's completely scared silly to drive it. He's approaching $100K Cdn. on this project.
The first scratch or chip will be the most painful.

That's some wild machine! I never would have guessed that there was something like that here in our province.(Although there have been some rare ones that spent time here like 1967 Cougar serial #000001) I do recall a 427 Fairlane was sold thru Patriquin Motors in Sussex many years ago and have heard stories about it from a salesman who works there (now the defunct Lamb Ford soon to be a new Downeys) And a few years ago @ a car show in Quispamsis there was a '66 or '7 Fairlane with the 427 style hood on it in that Emberglo copper color, I think someone mentioned it was from Westfield or Grand Bay.

As a side line to enjoying musclecars, & working on them @ our shop (glass & upholstery) I also enjoy building and collecting alot of model kits. Here a conversion I'm been working on of a '67 Comet 202 427 post sedan...

Next time I get to Moncton I'll call & make arrangements to meet up with you. We keep our trailer @ Coles Island, that's not far either.
The owner , Peter Wilson, seriously believes the 2nd car went to Nova Scotia. He's been trying in vain for years to locate it. It may have been crushed/destroyed years ago. I don't know how long he's had this car but it very well could be the same one you saw. The paint under the hood is original, same colour as the car you saw at the show.
Nice looking model, lots of work there too.
