A friend of mine called and asked me to polish some stainless for him. I went and picked it up, but I'm having a hard time being able to tell if it's actually stainless or chromed. It is the trim around a set of bucket seats, and it has rust on it.uzzled: The stuff knocks off easily with some steel wool, but still looks like it's pitted a bit. It looks like it should be stainless, but I have never dealt with this stuff before. Does anyone know what it is? Also, there is what appears to be a pot metal or heavy aluminum piece that he said attaches somewhere along the top of the back seat on the 67 convertible. It is attached with several screws along the piece. It's about 5/8" wide and 3' long. Is this available aftermarket? It's pretty toasted. I suppose photos would helpou: I'll try to get them posted so you can see what I'm referring to.
Here is the long convertible rear trim piece. It appears to be a boot retainer? I would really like to see if this can be replaced with a new one....or one that is nice used. ...and the seat trim. I have about 20 pieces like this. Now that I am getting a closer look at them, it really can't be stainless...but it is thin like stainless. I would like to see if this is available aftermarket as well. I have limited knowledge of the MoPar hot spots for parts.
Adam, not sure if those are repoped or not. The A-Bodies don't seem to have the aftermarket support of the B/E-Bodies. You could ask the folks over on the Moparts forum. Or the Cuda-Challenger.com forum is pretty good as well.
