Hi guys,im trying to install that plastic lower steering column cover and i cannot put it on,it seems it hits the steering column`s lower plate and screw?can someone shed some light please? Thanks
My column is out of the car, all repainted and still has the original plastic sleeve on it. It looks to be hinged on one side (the 2 halves are connected) and then the other side overlaps and seems to be glued together. Hope that helps. Could post some pix too.
George, from what u described, it sounds like your firewall mounting plate may not be in the right position. Here's some pix.
lololol,ok i think we`re talkin about different parts,i was talking about this peice below, sorry if i confused you.
Well........the bolts to tighten that round flange should be on the cabin side not in the engine bay side. Not sure what the problem is.
Yes and the bolts are on the cabin side but it seems the plastic cover is getting interfered with that metal flange with the bolts,i dont get it either.
Both factory parts nothing modified,i`ll take a crack at it again today and see i`ll keep you posted. Thanks
Hey George !! How the hell are you? I see that I am missing part of mine, but this is how mine is in, just wondering if you had it upside down.... ????
Georgie, I just went out and took mine off to shoot you some pics, and something looks off with your new mounting bracket. Johnny J J 908-507-6357
ok now was the plastic cover right up against the firewall or was there clearance around the cover?thank you for the pictures.
Ok thanks to all for there input and pics,i figured out what the problem is,the one i bought if for 65-66,i need a 67 one,its different, they must`ve sent me the 65-66. Thanks
ah ha! Glad u figured it out! X2... now I see, the plastic piece does not have the same size bump at the bottom to receive the flange nut and bolt... Right???
