O.K., I know that I need to rebuild or replace my carb, but I got to thinking, is this the correct original carburetor?
Does any one know exactly what would have come in a 67 GS 340 when it was new? Any other Carb suggestions to get the most out of the 340 would be welcome also.
Since the 340 was a short lived engine, only came in a GS one year, and most of the others were 2 barrels, there isn't a lot of good reliable information to tell me for sure what I had. The parts stores can't get anything right as far as this car, and the old Chiltons isn't great on specifics for this car.
    Thanks for any information.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I can get pictures, and it has a carter on it, so so far so good. I was interested in the exact one that came with it from the factory. Since I have a Carter, it may just be the right carburetor. Do yo know what size it's suppose to be?
I may put an "upgrade" carb on it, but my first choice is to rebuild this or put the correct one back on. I know you can't buy a new carter anymore, so if I go with a brand new one it's probably going to be an Edelbrock. I don't think that there will be any reason not to be able to rebuild mine but you can never be too sure of these things until you pull them and check them out, including all the linkage. I'm not into doing the bushing thing if it needs that.
I've got a couple of other things that I'm going to do before the carb, but I want to start checking into it, like making sure that I have the right one to start with.

A chassis manual would help here- it has the carb #'s detail.
California emission cars got a different 4bbl than the non A.I.R. cars.
If you upgrade to an edelbrock the original air cleaner will not fit the larger opening of the edelbrock.
