    Hello all,
My Wildcat 3.07 open rear has bad bearings and an unknown internal condition. The lube was found to be really thick and dirty when changed a few weeks ago.

So before I spend $$$ to fix the bearings, I thought swapping in a Posi rear would be nice.

What rears will bolt right in?

I have found a 77 Monte Carlo Posi rear but do not know if that would bolt right in and match up with the driveshaft, brakes, and suspension. Or does anyone know of the right rear for sale?

Thanx in advance for any advice, info, or knowledge!

It is a Buick only 9 3/8" rear. Plus the donor must be from certain 1966 -70 Buick big cars. Also, I think there may be something a little different about a 66 rear relative to 67-70 Buick 9 3/8" rears. Check with some others to verify what may be unique to 66 Buick rears.

iNTERNAL GUTS YOU HAVE TO STICK WITH 66 ONLY 67 68 69 70 ALL HAVE LARGER DRIVER SIDE BEARING ON THE POSI CARRIER. i HAVE A FEW OF THESE UNITS. They are not easy to find and I have reconditioned these units. I also have 2 sets of 3.07 gears too.

Now if you are going to install a complete assembly from drum to drum you have to again stick with the FULL size Pontiac BuicK or Oldsmobile FULL sixe car rears from 1966-1970.

Now that being said you may have to do some lower or upper control arm swapping etc. Are the lower control arms a yoke split that go around the bushing at the rear end bracket connetion or is it solid straight arm with the bushing installed in the control arm?

Be aware that a complete LeSabre rear may bolt in, but it is a light duty 8.2 inch rear. Unsure if other divisions used the light duty 8.2 in any of their B bodies, but it's something you need to verify before buying.

Except if it is a LeSabre 455 model which would have the 9 3/8" rear.

Buick made the switch to a larger carrier bearing on one side during the `66 model year. It is possible to obtain a late `66 carrier which will not fit into an earlier `66 axle housing. Be careful,
