66 V8 conv vin code

    I am attempting to restore a 66 Buick convertable. The vin code says it is a Buick Special V8 Convertable. But in the grill is a GS. Is it a Buick Special or a Skylark Gran Sport 'Please help' The Vin Code is

    66 43617 Kan 164
    I would like to know how to restore it correctly.

    Not too familiar with the '66 models but.....the grille may have been replaced at one time. A GS badge may also have been added by a previous owner.
    Post the vin here & someone can help a little more.

    As I remember in 1966 the Special/Skylark and GS all used the same pot metal grill. GS was painted part black and had a GS emblem. Thanks Bill.
