Back in 1982 one of our close family friends had his HEMI out for a ride. Took it out once a year to keep the carbs from drying out, ect. Put it away in 1969, when his son was born thinking that Junior would want to drive it someday. The kid turned him down! Anyway, Andy was out on the local 6 lane running at 55 mph when a '68 Charger with HEMI badging pulls up along side. The kid looks over and motions to Andy for a race. Andy shrugs, nods his head and drops down to second bringing up the rev's. The kid counts to 3 and they both stand on it. The '66 launches breaking the tires loose and just leaves this kid in the Charger behind. With a 1/4 mile distance between the cars, Andy slows down to the posted limit and waits for the Charger to reappear. A few minutes later the kid pulls up again, now just a bit pale. Looks at Andy and points at the '66. He mouths over to Andy, "Is that a HEMI?", Andy nods. The kid points at his car and mouths "This isn't!". I musta laughed for 15 minutes when I heard this! Andy still has the '66, no it's not for sale, he's turned down many 6 figure offers. 1966 Sport Satalite Red, black interior 426 Race Hemi HD Hemi 4 speed Dana 60 - 4.11's Never lost a race, except when he blew the clutch against a 427 hi riser Galaxy (drag only car - on the street) Jim
