It is a beaut. I don't think I've ever seen fuel lines done in copper tubing. :Do No: Is that an Olds thing to coordinate with the color of the motor?

Could you restore one to that level for 70,000? I'll bet it would be close if not more.

Doesn't matter what it costs to restore. What is it worth? Even at BJ, I wouldn't expect a price that high, but then, I could be wrong. These guys had a nice 67 442 convertible that they bought original, then put a quick paint job and interior in. It was a very nice, complete car, with no apparent flaws, but not the quality of this one. They had it listed for $40K, obviously don't know what they ended up getting for it. I've visited them a couple of times (we go down that way quite a bit visiting family), and they do have some very nice stuff.

Wow, that was a car I used to own! It was a very nice car with all original body panels and the underside was just plain clean with just about no surface rust. The car was a 4 brl car that we put a tri-power on and hurst wheels. New seats, dash console, etc. Sold it for $46K. He just sold it to this guy for I believe north of $60K. Now it is up to $70K. Thought $46K was a great number. Shows you how much I know. It does need new tail pipes to be more correct. Just figured someone else could put that money into it ($400). Nothing has been done to the car except getting dirty!

I highly doubt Olds used copper. Im not sure I would feel safe with copper fuel lines.

The rear carb is hooked to the front carb on the passenger side. It looks like its disconnected if you only look at the driver's side of the linkage.

    Hi John,

Well, I need to change my view of the market if that is the case!! I thought that what it is worth and what it will bring would be at least close. I know I left Lee some money but Sheesh!!!

The back carb is hooked up and the fuel lines are correct!

His ad states "first year for the big block 442", I thought 1965 was the first year for that.:Smarty:

The 1964's had the 330 cubic inch engine, 4 speed, 4 barrel carb, and dual exhaust (called the B03 package). That is where "442" came from. The 400 cubic inch was introduced in the 1965 model year to best of my knowledge. That was the first year you could get the automatic transmission. "442" then standed for 400, 4 barrel, and dual exhaust.

Sorry, I could not help myself.

BTW, beautiful 66. My other love is Olds.

Tri power 66, with a 4 speed and all that documentation got to be near that range? There was a $100K tri power car at BJ

How much would it be worth if it was a convertible? I know a guy that has one that needs to be restored.

Thanks guys for the heads up on the rear carb. Man if I had that car and he had a feather up his A$$ we would both be tickled. Only if money grew on trees!

Yes, It's a 4 speed, convertible, factory 3x2 car. Its not the w30 option with the ram air.

Well, lots of questions to ask about the worth of a 66 4spd conv. If it was a numbers matching tri-power car then you could be speaking in the $60K range.

Take a look at the 66 conv at www.todaysauto.net . It is another car that I owned. It is absolutely perfect and completely restored, frame off and every nut and bolt was redone. Now this car has some "add ons"! Turbo 400 tranny along with the tri-power, aluminum rear end cover, wood wheel, 67 console, and oversized disc brakes. I have not ever seen a nicer paint job. You can not find a flaw on this car. I believe he is looking for something north of $60K again and there is way more then that into the car. A fellow out in CA had the car done and needed cash so I took it. The car had a ram air cleaner on it and he tried to make a W-30 conv, which they did not make. The red inner fenders just do not look right on this car as they are painted. I was going to take the whole front end apart but decided against it as the paint was just perfect and I would bet on putting a scratch on something. The offer made was sufficient to take the car so I parted with it. I am sort of sorry I did as it was a dream to drive. That is one fine car. Someone should buy it and change the inner fenders and tail pipes.

I have a red 4 speed tri power conv that has factory air added. Hurst wheels, Black top and interior. Not frame off but as nice as can be without being off the frame. Correct tail pipes, console, etc. Pretty far north of 60 K to buy it. :TU: John

So you were not able to buy the Black one!!

Nice car John! 4spd with a/c is exactly what I am looking for also. My Stage 1 is auto so not quite what I want to keep. Will just keep looking. Bud sure bought a couple nice cars!!!!
