I wanted to share a few photos. I took it for a short ride around the block a few weeks ago and then the bad weather hit. I am waiting to get a alignment and exhust hung. I still have a lot of loose ends but it should be ready for some cruising by spring.:3gears:
Hey yacster, Ya now it has a new hurst shifter. I just did a couple of years of frame of the body work. Then I put the body back on the frame and it looks like the same old car. But the body work will be down the road a year. I just wanted to drive this thing again. The work I did was slow ( wife and young kids = no time and low $ ) I am going to try this QFT 950 carb. I also have a 2x4 set up for later to try out:3gears: Bob PS I have more pictures if anyone is interested
Very nice! Your car is an identical twin to mine! Thanks for sharing! Man am I stoked! Rare car in a rare color combo! They'd look good together at the GS Nats. Dan
Thanks Dan, after seeing yours back from paint I really want to start preping the body on mine. But I have a lot of little things to do first. Bob
Bob, Looking good! I sure would like to have a 4 speed.... Was looking at your exhaust. Can you tell me more? (size, vendor, mufflers, etc.) I need to replace the exh system on my GS. Then, I'll need the same for my '66 Special project but it will have headers like yours. Steve
Bob you going to throw some open header dumps in there. I like the ones that are electronic controlled. Of course they are $$$$. I should have the D/S trunk panel in real soon.
Hey Steve, this is a 2.5 inch mandrel bent A-body exh. from jegs. My funds were getting low so someone told me about it and the price was right. I also am putting a X in it. The mufflers came with them. But I have a set of new sraight thru Thrush glass packs I am going to use since that pic. was taken. Yacster, I never thought about dumps, but you never know. They are pretty cool. Bob
Hey Yacster, I have this intake I am going to try out this spring. I have 2 edelbrock carbs now I am going to trow on it. This pic. was taken so I could see what it looked like will I was putting it back together. I guess I was just thinking ahead or wishful thinking.:Brow:
we need to fab up some Lexan valve covers to show off TT's Roller rockers. I hope the eelco DQ gets some good numbers. I was thinking of putting one on the Lark project.
Lookin' good Bob!:TU: I know what you mean about dropping a unrestored body back onto a finished chassis....I did my body drop a few months ago on my '66 4-speed hardtop. My chassis is show quality, floor was blasted and painted, and now that it's together, I can't see the results of all that work unless I slide under the car! Keep up the good work 4 speed '66 GS's ROCK!:beers2:
Drove the car home from my friends house today. We did some carb tuning and it runs pretty good. I think there is still more. It will set and idle at 500 rpm and sounds great. ( video to follow). Also it idles so low and good I killed it a few times trying to get used to it. It also had a power steering line come loose and you can hear it in the video. Its fixed since I got home. Also it just loves it at around 5000 rpm, I didnt go any higher Than that yet. Telesco rockers really opened it up.:3gears:
