GOOD . did the rebuild go along ok ? any problem areas ?
drive 'er . make a few adjustments here n there . smooth it out .

    It went smoothly, thanks.

I did notice that someone had been inside the primaries previously, as was evident by the blue gaskets. The secondaries still had the original gaskets, though.

It bolted on, filled up with gas and voila! I had to adjust the idle a tiny bit but it's nice to be able to come to a stop without almost stalling and not having to burn off the excess gas because the secondaries flooded out.

    still runnin' ok ?
fyi - just picked up a #6210 ( dbl pump version like yours ) at the Lebanon valley swap . already had the dual feed style bowls on it . maybe tinker on that and try it on the truck and see how it goes . comparison . it needs some TLC - blocks not mod'd , bowl gaskets on backwards , needs a good cleaning at least .

    It is!

I haven't driven it since last weekend but it ran (and has run) well since the rebuild.

I'm not running a choke, so it takes a minute longer to warm up but I'm fine with that.

    So far, so good.

yeah , this one is no choke also . will probably just leave it that way , rebuild , try 'er out .

brett - question for ya , when you rebuilt your 6210 was there a checkball or plunger under the pump nozzles ? can't remember on my carb on truck but that's a vac sec carb . this one i just rebuilt did not have anything there . so i'm thinkin maybe just missing . then some info pop's up that they are "lightweight" checks ? but there are pump shot checks built into the metering block right above lower hole and i was wondering if they act as the check for the nozzles ? maybe i'll send holley tech a question over the weekend . internet pics with exploded view do not show a plunger under nozzle like in regular holley pics ?

I can't recall if there were.

Let me ask my buddy who was "overseeing" the rebuild.

Thanks . No rush . I can wait . I was gonna pop it on before the bad weather hits if possible . But if not can try it out spring time when I get the truck out . It's running fine with the vac 650 now . A little cold blooded but good .

brett - fyi - 2 things , was at LV for their end of year big swap , saw a cheap original lookin #6210 , couldn't resist . got it apart this am - no check plunger under either nozzle . also , did e-mail holley tech and he said that the lower check will act the same . upper not needed . will have to let the other guy on here know . he's the one with the holley 800 SB DP on a 350 .

    My friend couldn't recall either.

brett : morning . hey I gave my 6210 a quick going through , QFT gasket kit and corrected the metering block pump hole problem . installed on truck yesterday . kinda just an fyi - with the dual feed bowl conversion the rear stud/nut clearance was REALLY tight . had to bevel the top half of nut at about 45 degree's and lift carb up a little to slide nut into place . just like the other carb I could not picture bolts working . fronts were no picnic but not too bad if the bowl is removed .
so , Sunday I sold the vac sec 650 I had on there , installed the DP 650 sunday , test drove it a little today while doing an errand - was curious to see the dif . started ok , no choke so a little cold blooded , but ok , seemed good when warm . could feel a little acceleration difference i think . needs a couple adjustments and kickdown linkage set better . pretty close . up for the winter anyway .
next up I think I want to try a 750 edelbrock or holley on there to see if I can get that extra cfm feel upper end like the thermoquad seemed to have . the 650 seems ok for cruising around but --- . I've thought about robbing the q-jet ken did for me ( 800 cfm , mild 350 setup ) off the car just to try out . that might be an interesting comparision . also picked up a holley 4412 HP series 2bbl carb , trick lookin , might be fun ?
curious on yours - mount up pretty easy with stock bowls on there ? did you use bolts or studs ? pretty ok with the carb as is or itchin' to get something bigger on the 455 ?
edit - added a couple pics of carb and modified rear nut .
edit - 6210 off , 750 edelbrock on - ran good , better i'd say . I've got a rebuilt 4412 mounted on an adapter so maybe pull the trigger on that wed if weather is good enough for a test drive . might be interesting .
edit - yep , edelbrock off , installed 4412 this morning , test drove , went good . did not see a big dif between that and the 650's . and I nailed it a couple times right up to 65-70 range . not quite as good as the 750 edelbrock , reinstalled that .

Mounting was a real pain. I used studs and had to lift the carb a few times (when addressing each nut) to get it bolted down.

No choke, so it takes an extra 90 seconds to stay at idle and I'm not giving up on that Q-Jet just yet.

The car still pulls when I hammer it but I feel like the carb somewhat kinda levels off at top end. Again, my rebuild was more so for drivability than anything else.

Next year I'll tinker more with the Q-Jet and hopefully that will open things up a bit more.

yes , same feeling with the 650 . just kinda runs out gas upper end . the t-quad just felt like it wanted to keep going when ya got to 70 or so when accelerating . the 650 will do it but just more work to it . kinda why I wanted to try the same carb but DP .

    Update - Brett , how's the car going ?
Sold Edelbrock 750 . Installed a Holley 3310 with QFuel adjustable vac secondary assy and rear metering block . Spring time road test - went good , really liked to climb when pushed . But pulled plugs , running rich . Pulled the 750 and installed a Holley 600 that I did a bowl conversion on , no choke , quick fuel adjustable vac secondary and rebuild with a #39 rear metering plate for little more rear jet size . Runs really nice , pulls good . Pulled a couple plugs and they looked nice . Pretty happy with that so far .
The one thing I'm tempted to do is pull the 800 Qjet off the 350 and try that could be a good combo of clean down low plus big secondary for up top .

I ditched the 650 and added a rebuilt 750 double pumper that was on a car I owned 20 years ago.

So far, so good. Seems like it's woken up quite a bit.

I was kinda surprised at the noticeable dif swithing from a 600/650 up to a 750 on the 360 . probably more so with a BBB .
