The shop is Ripley's Mufflers 281-444-3885. I talked to Tommy Ripley, he said they could do it using my car as a model. But he said don't expect it to bolt in like a glove, even the "kits" sold for the Mustangs and Chevelles need some massaging to get installed. The killer is he said they don't mandrel bend the aluminized pipe because it can't deal with the heat generated from the bender. So it is stainless only. He said he could do it for the same price he did for me. If you didn't want the "x" it would be $140 less. If either of you want to pursue it, I'll tell you exactly what I paid. Of course you would have to pay shipping costs and maybe some packaging costs. Let me know, Rick
Thanks for your time Rick, I'm not up for the expense of the SS exhaust system, and if I can't get the aluminized mandrel bent, it kind of defeats the purpose for me, as I have a local exhaust shop just down the road from me who can build a 2.5" exhaust on a conventional pipe bender for between $200-$250. Thanks again for doing the leg work and checking on price/availability for us. Your system look's great, would like to hear the sound clip when you get a chance. :TU:

Everything is mandrel bend, and still custom fit to your car.
Re: Thanks for your time That sounds a little cheap but I'm in the same ball-park as far as aluminized on a conventional bender. (I paid $400 in 2002 to have an 85 Monte Carlo done headers back custom dual exhaust, AND i supplied the mufflers and exhaust tips myself) Although I sure wouldn't mind aluminzed mandrel bent, but then again, I like low-end torque.... so maybe stock is just fine for me!
Rick! any chance of a sound byte from your exhaust? Ru diggin' it? On my green car I put 2.5 w/hpipe, normal bending, huge magnaflow mufflers...and I hated it for being too loud. I am having a stock system with resonators from Waldrons put on this week. I think it will really make the car more driveable for me...may have to drive it to North Carolina for Thanksgiving! Brilliant!
I've got friends over celebrating post hurricane IKE electrical power restoration. :beers2: Sweet A/C again! The car is absolutely filthy fron IKE blowing crap into my garage. I didn't get enough if it idling and the part coming off the "romp" is distorted a little by the camera. I can't figure out how to post videos from photobucket, so here is the direct link. http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s126/BUICKBONEHEAD/?action=view¤t=100_0140.flv Needless to say, I like it on the loud side.</EMBED> Rick</EMBED>
I wonder how difficult it would be to adapt the full exhaust from "Pypes" (i think that's who sells it) for a '65 impalao No:
The stainless "X" can be bought through IMCO, and the rest can be made easily. The pass side has 3 bends and the drivers has 2. Behind the "X" is has maybe 3 bends or 4 if there isn't enough room. I build these alot up here in Portland Oregon (go to www.getbentexhaust.com ) and you'll see my shop and some cars. I do 2 1/2" aluminized with a "X" for the 67-68 camero, and have also had a guy bring in the "X" framed 61 Chevy. He had me plasma cut the frame with a large hole by the end of the full length headers, insert a 1/4" thick by 4" steel tube, weld it in on both sides, insert 2 1/2" tubing and run it all the way down the side of the vehicle. I told him if the frame folds, it ain't my fault!
wowwww with that hole in the x-frame. Looks cool, but.. def. not something I wanna do! hehehehe You've done some reallllllllly pretty work, I was just looking at your website. Doubt I could find an exhaust guy around here who is as dedicated to making it look THAT good. And I'm pretty sure I couldn't find one to blow holes thru my frame.. hahahah
