Freshly painted car…needed a serious engine compartment douche. Engine is out as of today. Owner has supplied another engine to swap into it so we can streamline the process. Planning for MCACN 2023 for this one.

I have been considering it. Would probably do something along the lines of what I do to clean up and restore all the small stuff. Not necessarily the big picture.

That would be a great video! Concentrate on what it takes to restore all the small items. Things that someone could accomplish in a day or a weekend

And your way more comfortable in front of the camera these days. Far less goober-ey :D:D

How will you clean the main structure? Inner fenders, cradle, frame, etc? Asking for a friend...

Wire wheel on a drill, scrub brushes, brake cleaner, lacquer thinner, DA with 80 grit, hand sanding, cursing.

If they're in nice shape, you may be able to get by with a good scrubbing with ScotchBrite and detergent, and maybe some wet sanding to smooth out minor defects.
Worst case condition is full disassembly and sandblast piece by piece.
If condition is in-between, well, as Adam said.

It looks like you painted some of the firewall black , because it looked rusty in the beginning, and the power brake cylinder, what product?

On the 65 Rivs, the booster was black…not gold cad plate like we are used to seeing. So this one got semi gloss rattle can treatment like the rest of it. I tried out the rustoleum professional line “quick dry” stuff…I like it better than the DE1635 I’ve been using.

    Getting closer to first fire…

Looks Great! Whats holding the splash shields in place, are those factory?

Yes they're just the small metal clips snapped into holes.

That looks great. I'll need to do something similar when I start working on my dad's dual quad 64 Riv.

I will be there with the yellow 73 Sun Coupe for the class of 73. Just to show no judging this time. 10 years since I brought the car there for our first time at MCACN was there for the class of 73 in 2013. The Riviera will be a showstopper I am sure. Love those cars.
