65 GS rear pumpkin ear bushings

I can not find the bushings that go in the 2 ears on my pumpkin. They measure 1.34 inches. All the other bushings are 1 3/4 inches.

I tried 64 olds F85 search and came up empty. My local guy has been trying hard to help me. In the last 3 days he's ordered multiple bushings but no dice yet???

    Help

No sway bar holes right? I'll check the ones I have when I get home tonight, Joe.

The sway bar holes are closer to the axle - not the frame.

Could the "indentation" be called a "lip"? The lip faces the wheel.

    Thats what I was thinking.

Next problem. I can't find the upper control arm bushings. On the pumpkin. They measure 1 3/8"s inches? My buddy's listing the same bushing for both sides of the upper arm's but the pumpkin bushing is smaller??

On one side it's a straight shot from one end to the other and the other side is as wide on the ends but then it comes in a little going the whole lenght of the arm with the same size of the same width at the end.

    I'll snap a pic. brb

I haven't bought mine yet (bushings), but I think they are the same part number for the upper and lower control arms. On the upper arms, two go in the arm, and two in the axle housing. (I realize I just stated the obvious - no disrespect!)

I'm with you Joe but they are smaller. I'm confused.

All the other bushings are the same but these 2 are smaller.:Do No:

Wait! Didn't you post somewhere that you have a '68 rear? Maybe you're looking up the part for the wrong rear end?

No thats in my other car. This is my GS.

Here's a pic. The one on the left is the one that fits in everything else. The one on the right is the pumpkin bushing, measures 1.34in.

Yikes! That's way odd! Hopefully Jim (monzaz) will see this thread. If anyone has seen this before, it would be him. Those look like upper a-arm bushings.

    Hey Joe,

Don't know if this picture answers your first question, but the "north" end in the shot faces the front of the car. The oblong holes are near that end. These arms came off of the '65 GS convertible frame that I bought for my car. This set do not have sway bar holes on the side.

    Best Wishes,

The small dia bushings are used on 1964 rears. Dunno if some 65's got them too. :Do No: Are you sure you a have a 65 GS rear? Look for a code stamped on the bottom of the right axle tube. The axle tube flares out on the end to accommodate the larger wheel bearings used on the GS. See the pic.

I have a 64 F-85 rear with those small bushings, and I need a pair too. I haven't found a source, but let me know if you can find them.

Control arms....Same arm is used on right as is on the left, so on one side the lip will be in, and the other side it will be out. Oval hole on the side goes towards the front.
I don't think it matters which way they go on, unless you want to use a sway bar...in that case you just have to match the holes up to mount the bar.
    AND
A rear sway bar requires reinforced lower arms. So either weld on the reinforcements, (and mess up your new paint job), or just buy new arms.

P.S. got your phone message one minute before I ran headed out to work!

The smaller bushings in the rear are, errrrr... were, Moog # k-5178.
Unfortunately, that number is obsolete.... Even Google can't find them.
I bet Craig could track something down for you.

Try P.S.T. in New Jersey (973)299-8019. They may sell this in polygraphite.
