'65? Buick posi differential for sale on Kijiji

I have just seen this ad on Kijiji Edmonton. It says from a '66 Buick Wildcat but unless some '66 still had these in Canada, I think it's from a 1965 or older... It looks quite similar to mine.

Anybody could tell which cars it should fit?

So if anyone is looking for a 3.07 posi for his car, shipping might be a bit expensive to the US but to change these on mine, I had to buy a complete car!

It does look like the one in my 66 Electra; - but then again, I wouldn't know how to positively tell the difference. I have a 3.08 posi in my car, and from what I can tell, it looks like it's always been in this car.

In '66 models, I don't think they still installed front loaders, unless it was a mid year change? I don't know what was the standard ratio in 1966 Electras but I don't think 3.08 was available. In full size cars (Wildcat, Electra Riviera)m from this period, the standard ratio was often 3.07 (and newer Electras had 2.73). LeSabres and smaller models were available with 3.08 as they had smaller differentials.

'65 should be the last year for the drop out third member. It's not from a Riv, since it has the standard u-joint style flange. My guess is it's from a '63-'65 Wildcat, or Electra.

I guess I'm really going to have to take a look at mine...and yes, it could well be that my axle ratio is 3.07; - 3.08 was the only number that I could remember off the top of my pointy head. I know it isn't a 2.73 or a 3.42, it has to be the one in the middle which is probably the 3.07. Did they make posi units with a 2.73 ratio? I seem to recall that my sales brochure said they never did; I'd kind of like one though, better for the fuel economy on those long trips to the coast.

I just checked out the actual ad. I can't remember what the place was called but there is a custom speed shop/wrecker there at that location. He specializes in GM product pick-ups from the 60s and 70s. He had quite a few old clunkers lying around, but no Buicks. His daughter had a baby blue 64 Rivy though, and I seem to recall that both she and the car had lovely lines. And she was a gearhead too... (where was she when I was single) I drove past there about a year ago, and it seemed they were still there. As usual, when I went there and asked for Buick parts, I got the usual look as if I crawled off the moon or something, so I never went back.

Good dealio if you're after a cruiser ratio. I believe this to be a '65 or earlier third member. The '66 drops out the differential from the back.
