My new project a 64 Wildcat has a posi rear end. I know this was an option, and I would like to know if the accecsory code on the data plate would tell me that. Or would it be on the build sheet.
The Data plate has ACC 2-17 on it, and was wondering if anyone could help me with that?

I don't think it will be on the data tag because only options that "Fisher Body" needed to be worried about went on the tag.

No, there is no ACC code for the posi. FYI, the ratio is stamped on the bottom of the housing, right in the middle.

Are you sure it is 2-17 for the ACC codes?

I thought the early 60's cars had a letter followed by a number for the ACC codes?

And Neil, I totally forgot to get you the info for that guy that might have the production figures. I'll be sure and get it to you tomorrow in a PM. Sorry bud, I've been crazy busy!

Neil, contact Terry Dunham at Automotive Research Services. His email is buickohv@aol.com and his phone is 407-880-0797. I know he has production breakdowns for other things, so he might for AC. I had to pay for a complete decode, but he might be willing to give you a small piece of info like that for free.

Thanks Man!! I will shoot him an e-mail.
It kind of sucks that this information isn't readily available.

The codes are available, its that nobody is recognizing the number only code. Please post a picture of your data tag and we can see what you have.

This is a great example of how frustrating it can be to learn the Fisher code system. It seems there were individual Fisher plants which used their own code system. This is the Kansas City plant and the codes are completely different than the Flint plant and others we are accustomed to seeing. Some of the plants left the "acc" space blank!  :Do No:

Could it be the code for vacuum trunk release?
How about for the front cornering lights?
    Bucket seats with console?

It could be for alot of things. I think Tom is right though. Every manufacturer always has the one plant that uses a different coding system, and screws everything else up.

You might want to consider asking that guy I gave you the info for. Ask if he has the codes for the Kansas City plant, and if so you might just want to pay for a complete decode. He includes alot of neat things in the binder, including the list of codes he uses to decode, paint percentage breakdowns, and some other original info. I don't remember how much it costs, but if your a '64 nut you can't go wrong with having that info on hand. Just a thought.

Well I sent the gentleman an e-mail asking about the Data tag. I went out and looked at my 64 LeSabre that was built at the KC plant, and it has an ACC code of 1-17????:Do No:
Man I hope this information is available, it's driven me NUTS!

I think that if a code like that is able to have one digit changed (the 1 to a 2) then it's a multi option option, if that makes any sense. Maybe one refers to all windows tinted, and one refers to only the windshield? It's worth a look if the cars have the original glass.

    Maybe this one is easier...

I have a 419 accessory code. Can anyone tell me what that means?
