    Howdy,

How many of ya'll would be interested in a 12-13.5" (probably bigger available with modification) bolt on disk brake kit for garenteed the early 61-64 full sized and Riviera spindles and probably a version for the later full sized spindle utilizing the hub out of the aluminum drums? I'm setting this up with a guy who makes "semi-custom" brake kits for the B-body Impala SS guys amoung others and I'd love to beable to pass it on to everyone else. Not asking for group purchase or anything like that, though a set of spindles and hubs for a good deal would be helpful. Just seeing how much interest there is in filling the gap left by the RRS system going off the market. I know lots of ya'll are happy with the Scarebird system but this will offer bigger rotors for our heavy cars and lighter systems with aluminum calipers and rotor hats. I'm thinking the kit will be around $650-750 but I can't promise till mine is built.

    Just sharing the passion,

I'll be updating you when I get something. Right now everything is on hold because I need the money for Power Tour prep and all the spindles and hubs I've seen are roughly the same price so I'm not getting any deals right now. I'll be sending the parts to the dude when I get them and the check for the design work. It should include calipers, rotors, hats, and brackets that will hopefully bolt to the stock spindle however '65 Wildcats don't use the same spindles I have and since its my car... it'll fit mine first then we'll branch out to the later spindles which the Riv got in '66 or maybe '67.

You have aroused my curiosity. I have a 62 Electra that I am looking to do a brake upgrade on.

What's wrong with the Scarebird conversion? I would be interested in feedback from those who have done this conversion compared to this 12" or larger, you say. This is reasonably priced (as pulled from their website www.scarebird.com).

    1958-60 Buick Invicta, LeSabre $135
1961-64 Buick Riviera, Wildcat, Invicta, LeSabre $135
    1965 Riviera $135
1965-70 Riviera, Wildcat, Invicta (ex. 65 Riviera) $125

Then again... the original aluminum drums are cool too... Anybody have the published factory braking distances? It would only be fair to compare the difference in stopping distances. Even if the 12" disc brakes were only callculated.:idea2:

If your contact does drop spindles or knows where to get them, that would fit the '72 Centurion I'd be interested to know more.

    Erik,
I think I read that they have a max on the Horsepower rating on them?
I will do a search and see if I can find out what someone wrote about them, I was going to use them also,But then again by the time you buy all the other parts..i.e. Rotors and Calipers I tink they cost is higher????? :dollar:

    Erik,
I did a search under Brake Conversion and under Marvin65 thread it said that they had a question about they stoping of a car over 300 H.P.,
I don't know how to put the link up to it,,, but if you do a search look for his name and I think it was for a Sportswagon,

The Scarebird kit is enough for most vehicles but I know there are more than just me out there that like the pro-touring look/capability. This is intended as an option for those of us who wish to have larger discs than the Scarebird kit without having to make a custom kit or modify the spindles. Give me about a month and I'll procure the spindles and hubs and get them sent off to the guy and he'll start the engineering work on them. If anyone wants to sell me a set they have laying around I'd be happy to consider your pricing on them.

    Thanks,
