So most of the car is dead stock, it hasn't even got power steering or power brakes, it would be an absolute bear to drive. (I had an Invicta equipped that way, they're not designed to drive well without power steering) So why bag it then? What's the point of spending all that money? Otherwise; love the colour, it really sets off the stellar lines that car has. And even that cheap LeSabre interior looks fresh in that colour.
The car is never going to be a high dollar car, but it is a shame to see a car that has been kept this nice and this original (until now) start on the journey to be a custom - you know whoever buys it is not going to stop where it is now. Of course that that money, no one is going to even look at it. You rarely see the original door panels with the name imprinted in them that nice.
Looks good you dont see many 2 door post cars Could it be orig paint? Highly unlikely but I couldn't tell from pics
If you blow the pics up, you can def see some chips and scratches in the paint. As clean as that interior is, I would say it is possible that it is mostly original paint with probably some touch ups
Are the seatbacks and pads reverse/opposite color like that from each other from the factory? Green to white, white to green?
Wow, I never noticed. Learned something new that I will keep in my vault of "stuff most people find useless but is interesting to me".
I even went and looked at a nice original '60 LeSabre for a member that he ended up buying for his dad. I think I was too mesmerized by the dash, shift indicator, and gas pedal start to notice.
That's cool. That blue one is what it would've been, actually, but 2 door. I've got pics on my work computer, I'll look at them tomorrow. Thanks for the lesson.
Which again begs the question, why bag it? This one should stay stock considering it's mostly still there, but, it'll probably end up customized. Whatever...
Probably cause he figured he could invest a couple thousand or less and add 10 thousand to the price. These early 60s full size cars dont bring what you would think they should stock. Now from a non stock guy its a minimal change to take this car from bagged back to stock other than the purchase price is high for stock
There is no question this particular example would be worth more customized (I hate saying that) but you just never see the plain ones this clean and original that it's a shame to see it going down the path of hell
What Roy said. I'd personally drive this one just as it sits. Looks great and easy to turn back to factory. No reason to get crazy with it if its this clean, just some suspension, exhaust, details, and drive. Just like as is done to it.
