Anyone know what exact parts needed to add P/S to replace standard steering in '56 Century [w/ Dynaflow, std brakes, FWIW]?

    Specific steering parts sources?

    Many Thanks

If you are going stock, you have to replace the column, steering box, and get the brackets for the pump. Any set-up from a Buick, 1955-6 will bolt in. Some Olds stuff is the same too. The manual box is a sort of one piece design; - the steering shaft goes directly from the box to the steering wheel. So it'll be a trip to the wrecker to find all of the parts. The power brake set-up is similar. You'll have to go to the wrecker and find a donor car that has the brake cylinder, booster, and the the toe-board for the suspended pedal set up, plus pedal and brake switch. It'll be a fair bit of work to rebuild it and install it, but it should be all bolt up without having to drill any funny holes.

After-market, the sky's the limit; - and maybe some of the hot-rodders on this forum can help.

    Hello,

If you are looking for a factory set up it has to be from a 56 Century or Special. Supers and Roadmasters will not work. Also 55's can work but require some modifications. I myself am in the process of tracking down a 56 with power steering as well. In this case you will probably have to buy the whole car to get the parts you want.

Aftermarket I have no useful input on that asides from I am sure it can be done but I dont know how.
