Does anyone know of a company that make a 5 speed with overdrive and external linkage that requires NO mods to the transmission hump?

I thought i picked up a brochure at (Sema Maybe??) from a new company building a manual tranny that has a low height so no cutting is required on the hump. I will be damned if I can find the brochure or remember the name of the company:Dou:..i dont believe it wast Tremec or Richmond. I do have the richmond 5 speed super street in my 71 lark but fairly extensive tunnel mods were required...
    Thanks Gord

It was a Mcleod. When I went three years ago I saw it, then the story went they didn't like the linkage design (wouldn't center itself in neutral) and as of the 2011 SEMA they hadn't finalized a new design so it was essentially still on the drawing board with no real date for production. At least that was my second hand take.

Here is a link to the 2009 version. M-800.

I believe AutoGear had one in the works and had some post on there website, but have not heard any more
Keilser is also supose to have a T45 kit that advertises no cutting, but there is a post about that in this section

another option would be a gear vendor unit added to your stock manual trans

    regards,

Yeah I was playing with the shifter in at their booth in 2009 and thinking I didn't like the way it was set up. Too many grease points to collect dirt on the external sliding rails. From the people I know that went to SEMA in 2011 and talked with McLeod, they said McLeod was still working on having the transmission out (by this spring of course, but they just say things like that IMO) and that the whole shift linkage was re-designed because the pictured linkage didn't center the internal forks and caused excessive wear on them. I haven't seen pictures of the "new" linkage setup, nor did I go to SEMA in 2011 so I don't know if a display of the M-800 was there or not.

**Seems it's been two SEMA's ago that I went. How time flys.

thanks Jim but the car i am thinking about converting has an automatic...apparently the "dodge boys" have a supplier that will change the guts on their 4 speed trannies and turn the 4th gear into overdrive, but i have not heard if anyone is doing that for the tranny's in GM's?

I know at least one guy that has a 4-speed manual in a 65 Impala with the 4th gear being a .70 overdrive. I think the trans was either originally out of a Mopar or possibly some GM truck. The model number is NP440 4 spd.

Oh, and it appears I was a year off on my memory (which is really sad I forget these things since I'm only 31 :*( ), apparently it wasn't at SEMA in 2011 (unless you saw it?) and my memory was from 2009-2010. The guy that wrote the article (in 2009) I posted got back to me and said he didn't see it in 2011 and thinks it could be DOA. =/

In the "Old Autos" newspaper, there is an ad for a place called "Rockcrusher Revived" and they specialize in m-21 in-case overdrive. The contact number is (905)775-5007. I don't know anything about them, I just saw the ad and remembered this thread.
