Just a question, I haven't bought it yet.
If I had a 69 Skylark or wagon, that had a 3 speed column shift standard transmission. Is there a 5 speed transmission one could buy from a salvage yard that would bolt to the existing bell housing, use the existing clutch parts, and generally replace the 3spd with an overdrive 5 speed. Maybe the floor needs butchered, maybe the trans mount needs tweaking, maybe the driveshaft needs altered, but the transmission would work otherwise. I am sure some aftermarket company has it covered. But I'm asking about a boneyard swap here.

If you really wanna do a junkyard swap, consider an MY6 (A-833). Its a four, not a five, but fourth is overdrive and they are cheap and durable! I used to run them in my Regal. Heres some discussion on a Chevy board http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69116
