How hard have you guys beat on a 494 crank? Has anyone broke one? How much HP was it at?

    Thanks Gary

I read that, But they werent really talking about a stroker crank.

Also I will be bottling it pretty good.

    Any Ideas?

What do you guys do to make your Nitrous motors last?

    Thanks Gary

i have ran two of these and i was not kind to the first one constantly saw 7000 rpm with steel rods and after two seasons i took it apart to check it,it looked fine bearings etc. but i sent the crank out for a wet mag and it had two inch long cracks right in the middle of the radius lesson learned lower the rpm especially with steel rods.did up another crank kept the rpm down to 6500 max checked it again and it was good.hope that helps btw i loved that 494 setup soo much grunt

Yes yes! My buddy liked 7k too. Needless to say he's now running a bbc.

I am about to get going on a 494 myself. I'll be watching this thread.

I planned on keeping my RPM's low. Like 6500 or so. I will run an Alu. rod also which I think should help. I just want to build something that will live for a while

I seem to recall Mike Garrison breaking a stroker crank a while back

It will be pretty light. I was just wondering if anyone had some real world testing.

  12. wasn't Mikes stroker a 528? big difference in cranks. I believe the 528 uses a special built crank not a stock one cut down
