455 vs 455 part II

  1. Well If you remember my last post where I was contemplating a 73 or a 70 455, I went for the 70. I picked it up tonight:grin: . Before I went I told the seller I wanted to make sure it would turn over as it has been sitting for 13 yrs.. I got there, and tried jumping the solenoid with a battery, and turning the crank for the front but it wouldn't budge so we tried to take off the starterbut he stripped the bolt. So I couldn't turnit at the flywheel either. I had driven 3.5 hours after working all day and told the gentleman I did not want to give him $400 for a motor that wont crank, so I said I would give him $200. He took it and I feel kinda guilty. :( . But pinching myself at the same time, my theory is that if the motor is no good, $200 is a wash because of the tranny.
Oh yeah, it is still bolted to a Turbo 400. Maybe I can get something for the tranny and the motor ends up free. Either way I have an SF code motor air cleaner to oil pan so now i can maybe drive with the big kids.
