Hey Guys, I got the 455 Bug  :Smarty: :moonu: :Brow: :3gears:

So Tomorrow I will be going to pick up a 71 455 out of a wagon, I beleive from a fellow board member :TU:

    Well it's all there minus:

    1. intake
    2. Exhaust manifolds
    3. Timing Cover

The engine was going to be checked out because it had upper Valve train noise,
The seller said he was surprised to see no ridge in any cylinder and that the crosshatch patterns were still visible so this must have been recently rebuilt.

I want to get the engine running, (not in such a hurry because i am still saving up $)

    I have a 430 Intake I had from my sold 68 Riv:puzzled:

Will it work with the 71 block? From what I read it should correct?

Another is that I also have the 430 Flywheel leftover, It should also work?

And last but not least, which cam would be reccomended from TA of course for a 71? I know the heads must be stock 71 heads, but as far as the compression ratio, what am I looking at? Powerwise to after getting it up and running.

Also I plan on keeping the th350 in the car, it feels healthy and appears to have a shift kit. That way there is no need to get a new shaft or yoke?

Do I need different engine mounts?

as far as ET is it easily a 13 second car with a healthy cam, new carb and some timing?

I know soo many questions but I want to do the swap with minimal problems, Anyone else here with a 455 swap into their 69?

As I recall the intake bolts are different on a 455 intake,

Keep the cam small. It should be about 280 hp SAE.

The drive length will have to be adjusted.

Many of the best tuned 70 muscle cars out of the showroom ran in the 14s.
