455 oiling help

    i am rebuilding my 455 for the third time.
    problem is oil
    I am having troubles getting the oil back doun into the block
    it is staying on top to long

    Hello, (BTW...what's your first name? We around here all like knowing whom we are addressing!:TU: )

    Anyway...sounds as thought the drain holes (one in each corner of the intake side of the head) is clogged/partially clogged and in need of a good cleaning out. I've found the best way to do this is to remove the valve covers and with a ShopVac close in hand, use a screwdriver and carefully dislodge it with the vac right there to suck the junk up before it falls into the valley. If it does this will make it's way to the pan and potentially clog the oil pump's pick-up tube screen. That would then require you "drop the pan" and clean that out too....not really a bad idea if those heads are clogged anyway as the entire engine probably has sludge thru-out it.:Smarty::TU:
