Here is a question. I've posted before about my oil pan leaking, and i'm going to be changing it this weekend. I've done it in the past with the trans in the car and I've had to jack the motor way up. I'm going to have the tranny out this weekend, so its a perfect time to change that leaky gasket. Does anyone know if I can get the oil pan out with no trans in the way with the motor mounts still bolted? I don't think I'll be able to raise the motor with the engine just sitting on the mounts? Its in a skylark:Do No:

I do not think you have enough room to pull the pan, I would either reinstall the transmission and then do the pan or pull the engine. Anything other than that would be unsafe. AL

i dont believe there is enough room inbetween the crossmember of the frame and the crank to get the pan out without unbolting it and jacking it up. sorry

JUST PULLED MINE YESTERDAY, TRANNY AND FLYWHELL OFF, IT DOES HIT THE MAIN CAP, SO I TOOK OUT THE MOTER MOUNT BOLTS AND WITH A BLOCK OF WOOD AND JACK, LIFTED FROM THE BALANCER, YOU JUST NEED A INCH OR SO I RUN HEADERS AND ITS FINE, JUST WATCH YOUR FAN CLEARANCE,DONT WANT TO BUST YOUR SHROUD, ALSO MAKE SURE THE MOTER GOES UP EZ ,SO YOU DONT STRESS OR BREAK SOMETHING
