    Hey guys,
I need a dipstick and tube for my 70 455.
    I believe any 70-76 455 will work.
Need it to be in good condition.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks, Jeff

    Wrong....

ALL 455 "A" bodies had a tube from the factory. :Smarty: AMP in Kentucky sell a repro tube & stick. :TU: And I know a few Riv guys that bought the repro tube & stick to get rid of the one that goes straight in.. :bglasses:

Bear in mind that if you are looking for a factory look, AMP's repro has a chrome handle.

    dipstick

i previously asked if 1970 blocks had a dipstick tube for the oil. answer i got back from several members on board was all the same. no tube for 70 or 71 blocks. oil dipstick just fits in the hole in block. so either everyone on this board is wrong or you are dan. thanks Ray

    dipstick

    Guys,
I may be wrong but I was told--
70-76 455's came with a dipstick and dipstick tube!!
430 motors came with the push in dipstick without tube.
    Could be wrong???? :Do No:

I swear, Buick did some crazy things. My 70 GS 455 no power brakes, 3 spd manual had a tube and stick from the start. Original motor, it had never been apart, removed or altered. :beer

    dipstick

well i guess some of the motors come with dipsticks and some dont. mine is a 70 and there is no tube in the block. just a dipstick, so i guess they made them both ways. i personally would like a tube in mine cause the stick is kinda sloppy fitting in just the block.thanks Ray

Ray I know what you mean I took the pan off a 455 1970 motor I have and there was 2 dipsticks that were caught by the crank in the pan. The tube seems to do a better job in directing the the dipstick.

    Guys,

Alll the 70 GS 455 cars I have owned all had dipstick tubes. Yes these were # matching motors. Two of them were well under 100k. Just maybe Buick used carry over 69 dipsticks from 400-430 engines or maybe an early year change?

A couple of years ago I bought a 70 455 core motor out of a Electra wagon and it did not have the dipstick tube. It just had the dipstick shoved straight into the block. I know that car was original.
