My 455 Regal makes a camtrain slapping type noise while cruising at 1900 rpm with the windows up. I can also get it to do it in the in the driveway in neutral or park. It's not the pushrods for sure. I use a loose/worn stock type timing set. Has anyone here ever heard of a loose chain hitting the timing cover? Is it possible? The noise sounds like ticking pushrods, only not so sharp and percussive. I'm going to tear down the front cover after the season's over and upgrade to TA's billet roller gear set for ease of cam degree adjustability. Been thru the camtrain a number of times. Puzzled by this sound. Help. (TA-510, adjustable .080" thick 5/16" black pushrods, TA lifters (the good ones of late), stock type thick shaft steel rockers, Track eliminator heads done by AM&P machine in Philpot, Kentucky. Cam endplay .006". Dist gear oiler in place. Oil stays clean. ??? Thank you for any assistance).

I had a similiar noise coming from the back of my 455 . I tought it was a failing lifter or incorrectly adjusted one as mine were adjustable, turned out to be a loose header bolt.
