    455 Dipstick / tube

I would like to ask. Does the Buick 455 require a tube for the dipstick? I was told no! I need the same part(s) for my 70 455 that's out of a 70 Riv that's been squeezed into my 69 GS :3gears:
    Thanks...Scott

The early B and C body Buicks used dipstick 1230489 which does not need a tube it inserts directly into the block. The A bodies had tubes and sticks although I found a few 70 GS's that did not have that combo in my travels and they were original. So if you dont have or want to be "correct" you could use either combo. The correct dipstick part number for a late 70 or a 71 A body with a tube is 1234636 but to find one if those is like looking for hens teeth and their price reflects it also. You can use the later tube and dipstick part number on stick is 1240523 from the 71-76 BCE bodies and they will work and are more "readily" available--usually in the $20-$70 dollar range when you find them.
