    I have a 455 that I pulled out of a 1972 Electra 225 thats going into my 72 gs, Is there anyone that can get me some info for building my motor so it will have roughly 500 hp and run on pump gas?

    Thanks Matt L

    Matt,

    If you do a search on this board for 455 buildups, 500 horsepower, or Jim Weise, you'll get a ton of the info you're looking for. Here's one link discussing camshaft selection for engines in this range;

    Now here's a chart of almost every single cam made for these engines, though your best bet is a call to TA performance after you've figured out how much compression, how much stall, how much weight, and what gears you'll have. Specific, knowledgable cam advice is very valuable...

    A few specific buildups, with dragstrip numbers to match;

    More buildups/cam combos;

    Some interesting info on why some engines can run on seemingly outrageous compression ratios;

    And, for perhaps the ultimate buildup....

    Have fun with your buildup, and good luck! This board will be a wealth of information for you!
