The Rockers on my 68 430 are not getting oil. I just went thruogh the heads and had them tanked and re-built. upon fire up, there was no oil getting to them. Is there a Head gasket mis-matching or what. I took the rockers off, ad I didn't see anything blocking the holes. I used fel-pro gaskets. the Oil pressure gauge is at 60 pounds too. thanks guys.

Did you get the rockershafts on with the drill mark facing up? This lines up the feed hole in the shaft with the feed hole in the head.

Pull one of your rocker assy off and run an oil pump primer slowly, if it is inverted rocker shafts you'll know quick oil will shoot across the garage.
Did you disassemble the rocker shafts?

I have gotten oil up to the tope end. allthough, oil is only coming from the front holes and not the rear. What happened was fairly simple. At my machine shop of choice, they oven everything. some old oil turned into that crusty black stuff and blocked both holes. after some poking with the trusty coat hanger, I got oil. with the rocker shafts off, the oil shot 20 feet in the air while priming with the drill. it gave the ceiling a nice coat, but it then dripped all over the place which kinda sucked. It's a good thing this happened since I noticed 2 of the hardened tips on the rockers fell out. that would have caused some failure quick.but the only thing that concerns me now is the back holes are not producing oil. it really shouldn't matter since the hollow shaft should make up for it.

Actually, does anyone know if the rear holes should get oil?? maybe they are just there to make the heads work on both sides. thanks, Joe

Oil is fed only to the front holes.

    A word of advice..

If you built the engine, and do another one, invest in a good engine brush set, and make certain that every hole in the block is perfectly clean.

If the shop did this for you ... find a new shop - no excuse for something like this..

If this was a main feed hole, you would have that engine out and apart again by now... :Dou:

Well It is my fault, since I did all the work. I guess experience grows from stuff like that. I think I'll clean all the holes from now on :TU: Thanks for the help guys
