im having problems getting this 430 too run like it should.it dosnt have the explosivnis it should out of the hole.its a 430 stoke bore n stroke,1.55 kennie bell rockers,105a poston camdrgreed in at 101 /stock size valves flatop jahns pistons,38 thick orange crush head gaskets, mickey thompson aluminum rods, mopar intake mounted with wedge plates /1050 dom carb jets are 90 sqr, 50 squrters,50cc ecel pumps,s-4 hays stinger ing,set at 42 at 3000.takes 12 degrees out going down the track to 30 degres,im running3/8 fuel line with holley red pump set at 8 pounds/turbo 400/9in ati convertor 3800 stall/456 gears i run 8th mile 80 % of the time, ladder bar coil over susp.its laying down then it comes back on the nlays down going down the track.i know the red holey pump is prolly the problem, but do i need a bigger size fuel line too whe n ireplace the fuel pump, this car usually 60 fts 1.50 to 1.57 with my old sm blk chevy,so the car does hook good,my best 60ft with the 430 was 1.72 with a 7.60 et/this motor has gone low 6s n the 8th in a 68 buick wagon im missing somthing on my combination or on the tune up any sugestions would be apreciated its drivn my nuts.i was thinking of putting the 1000 cfm thermoquad back on the motor which is what they ran on the wagon..it runs good but i need to unlease the beast thats there its running more than a sec off than it should run the wagon use to 60ft 1.39-1.42s and it ran 10.52 in the quarter so it should go faster n the little nova,i just need too get the right tune on it......:Do No: :3gears:

One thing for sure you have too much timing. The Stinger retards 1.5/1000 rpm. If you are at 42@3000 then it will retard only 4.5 more at 6000 rpm giving you 37.5 which is a bit much for a BBB. I'd set it at 39@3000. That might help your top end a bit.

I never heard of a Holley Red pump getting anybody into the 10's with any size of fuel line. That is internally regulated to 5-6 psi I believe. When you launch the fuel pressure is probably going to 0 from the g-forces in the line. If you have 3/8" line just get yourself a bigger pump and that should work. Something like a Comp 140 with regulator would work even with the 3/8" line. Do you actually have a gauge in the car so you can watch it?

If the TQ worked good before I'd try it again just to see what happens.

Are you saying that the heads on the car are stock? No headwork? With or without anyway you look at it that was one hell of a running 430 when it ran 10.5's especially when it ran that fast in a heavy wagon. That would contend for "Fastest 430 Ever" awards!

the wagon was 2950lbs im 3100 in the nova.there is extensive head work done.i started at 42/worked my way down to 32 degrees seemed best at 37/38. i have about 238 lbs cranking compression also.the heads are angle milled big time.the headers are home made by me all i had to use was 2/1/4 tubes for primarys into 4 inch outlets /im gonna slip on some 3 inch cones on the end to reduce the outlet size.i think the big header might be hurtn the bottom end /but at the big end of the track the motor howls.it dont get goin real good to about half track then hang on/if i can get the thing to come out of the hole like it should then look out i got a bad ass top end charge.but im losn about a 1sec n half right out of the box.

Hi Joe. Do you know what fuel system they used in the wagon? Hope you get it figured out. Tom
