Hello evryone, I am looking for a 401 or 425 nailhead near Marion IN. I am willing to travel roughly 200 miles(give or take) to get one. I am looking to find one as inexpensively as possible. If you have one already rebuilt i will most definately consider it. I think i would prefer one that hasn't been rebuilt though. The engine can be with or without transmission, complete or mostly complete, and nearly any condition so long as it is salvageable. I can post details of what i want to do with the engine upon request, good power now... mega power later :3gears:. I tank you all for your time, help, and advice in advance. :beer
I've got a 63 401 complete with dynaflow; it turns over fine. Everything will need to be rebuilt IMHO but it is complete with carb and distributor. $401 for engine, $401+ 50 for Dynaflow
I have some questions for you Ted. Is the dynaflow in working order? How well do the dynaflows work and what do they feel like? And do you have any way of putting the nailhead on a wooden pallet? Also what code is the engine?
63 engine = JT for 401 Dynaflow is an unknown as I never had this one working. i have pallets and a forklift at my disposal.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but what difference does it make for $400.00???? Getting something from Ted your almost guaranteed it's rebuildable. Like "HE" said, everything will need to be rebuilt. Ted has been doing this long enough to know what to look for.
What Tom said bud. ANY complete 401 for that is a steal. I would move on it quik myself BTW Tom, have a 66 401 coming hopefully in a few weeks so I will need to make some arrangements pal
I was quite sure i wanted the engine as soon as Ted posted it haha, a free spinning engine is almost always good. Thankyou Tom and Joe. And to Mr. Nagel... i will purchase the engine and transmission... If you could keep it for me until next weekend(weather permitting). Thank you everyone for your past, current, and future assistance(i will need a LOT of it :bla: hahaha). Sincerely, Matt
Sounds good Matt!, I will have some time next weekend. Saturday looks best for me. Your project will be fun with the od transmission. - Ted
