Hey has anyone ran a 4 speed in a regal with a 455? if so, what would i need to do to accomplish this... i know i'd need pedals, and stuff, but i don't know what else,,, z bar??? i have no idea... will an M21 work with a cross memeber for a th 400.....

only asking because i saw a trans on ebay, and got realy curiouse... figured it'd be pretty cool to make the 83 regal a 4 speed....

anyway, if it's to much of a problem, i'll be ordering a trans next week... also i don't know if M21 on ebay is in any usable shape... but it did strike the curiosity in me.

    chryco63 14's or bust!

Methinks there's a guy on this board up my way (Barrie, ON) who just finished a 455/4spd swap. I think his board name is 455Regal, but I'm not 100% on that.

However, Floydsbuick has done a 350/4spd swap with what I think is a Mopar A833, right Dan?

Right. I used New Process A-833 overdrives the first two years. I switched to a Super T-10 about 6 months before the engine expired:mad:

Check out Gbodyforum.com for more stickshift conversion G bodys and parts for sale.

    Hi!
I have a t-10 in my regal. Its a bit of work. I used the pedals out of a malibu, they bolt right in! I made mine a hyd. set up I couldn't be bothered with the z-bar deal. I modified the bar that attaches to the pedals so that it screws on to a wilwood cyl. (a compact remote reservoir type because space is at a premium!) I made a bracket for the cyl. that bolts on to the firewall where the cruise control wires came through( which is were the rods comes through on manual trans. g-bodies) I also made a bracket that bolts to the bell housing that the slave cyl. mounts to. for a shifter I used a 76 trans -am shifter ( and the t-10) I had to bend it in a press a little so that it fits the console.
It was a fun project and I can now bend in was I previously thought impossible positions to get parts bolted in. Hope that helps!

    Brad,

I have an 80 Regal built to look like a GSX. Has a 455 and a 4 speed. I ran the z bar setup for a while but it looked like it was very weak and had been modified heavily. I went to a hydraulic throw out bearing and the wilwood MC. I have not finished it yet. All I have to do is mount the cylinder and build the rod to the pedal. Is there anyway you could send me a picture of how you mounted the MC and attached the rod?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Hi!
I have pictures in "image expert" downloaded from the camera but I can't figure out how to get them on this site? I'm not the swiftest on computor stuff! be gentle with me!! ha ha
I noticed you said you used a hyd. throwout bearing. I considered that too but I hang out in the circle track crowd and those thing fail ( leak) sometimes and it ruins the clutch disc not to mention all the work in removing it if it does have a problem. That why I elected to use a push style slave cyl. (circle track part made by " cnc" ) It does get somewhat close to the headers but I wrapped it in heat tape before I put it on. I used the stock rod that comes off the pedal and cut it off and drilled and tapped it to suite the Wilwood cyl. ( 5/16 fine if I remember right) The Wilwood part # I used is 260-6089 . You have to get the remote reservoir seperatly.
If you can tell me how to post pictures I'll gladly post them for you!
