Has anyone purchased the 4 speed shifter boot use with no consolette from the parts place? Just wondering if it's any good before a waste my money because I purchased one for a consolette car a couple years ago and the quality was poor. The shifter boot for no consolette looks a little heavier. I seen that parts place now has a 4 speed hump for the 4 speed conversion. In the 4 speed conversion post everyone is using the 64-67 Chevelle hump but it was dated 2004. Is the one that parts place sells for a buick any better then the chevelle hump or the same thing? Thanks, Dan
Fusick sells that boot too.... 4 speed, no console. about $50. It's a nice repo of the original OLDS boot. It's a little bigger than the original Buick boot. Try a search for '4 speed boot' and you will find some reviews and pics.
Do any of these com with attachement metal rings? I managed to find an NOS lower boot for a console car.
Dan, Depending on what year you need the Buick Farm ( www.buickfarm.com ) has the Lower Shifter Boot for a Consolette in NOS for a Round Shifter in GM Group 4.015. Doug
Dan Don McCurry did a comparison of the original non consolette boot and the reproduction that TPP has done. You can read about it here. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?166446-1970-shifter-boot
Well I ordered the 4 speed hump from the parts place yesterday so i'll let everyone know how it fits in a week or two. Held off on the rubber boot till I see Mike G. new GM boots that he has. Thanks Scott for the post from Don McCurry.
I ordered the 4 speed hump and non-console boot a few weeks ago. the boot and retainer look good. the hump on the other hand is a piece of crap. very thin, and doesn't fit well at all. I do have an autogear 4 speed and a competion plus shifter, but I figured it would be closer. as it stands I don't think I'll use it..
