went to mission raceway to try out the car with some more gear and went a new best with the 4 speed setup 10.16 and 131.57 mph the gear swap gained 2 mph and 2.5 tenths over the 4.30s.
now it just touches the limiter accross the stripe at 7000 rpm, it saw 7000 rpm over 20 times so i was glad to go home with the rods still in it:pray: (no girdle no fill no nothin in the shortblock) i think the only reason it lives is because of the low 9:1 compression and al rods.

Well I am glad you did not loose the engine! If you are expecting the engine to last revving to 7000 then you might be surprised in my opinion but who knows.

Either way congrats on the fast runs! That is right where I want to be, low 10s with my 355 inch Buick powered Skylark but I will be shifting at 5800 RPM and trapping at around 6000.

For sure it is awesome to run fast on parts that should not! I would put a diaper under that engine though because if it goes it will make a big mess. :TU:

Congratz Adam! You're the smartest racer I know at putting together combos that work and go fast. Be cool to see what you could do with a 'big' budget:eek2:

You are braver than I am, to take your big-block to 7000. I am afraid to even hit 5500 with mine.

Adam there's more in this spare parts combo yet with some clutch taken out and clean pass off the rev limiter it would have been interesting to see.
Hope to see what some cool spring air will do aswell, cool fall air never seems to be there when we go in Sept. You earened ur props on this one cause on the trip to the track if u told me you where going to run a 10 teen i would have said good like with that.

    How big are your tires?
I have 4.56 Gears to and a 4000 stall converter and I to have seen a occasional 7000rpm near the finsihline.
That was with 27.8 inch tall tires

But I solved that with taller 29x10-15 HOOSIER (29.1 inch tall) and know I go true the traps at 5900rpms and shifts are to around that.

When running the first time with the Taller tires, it was like your were cruising cause the engine didn't need to rev so high to to get the power to the ground.

Bias ply is true 30". The 30x9 radial slick comes in two versions. 29.5 and 29.9.

yes it will be the bias slick the radials wont work well with the clutch
