This morning's paper announces the opening tomorrow of the 3rd legal drag strip here in the San Diego area. This one is near the Barona Casino and is 1/8 mile (for now). The 1/8 mile strip at Qualcomm Stadium has 4 racing lanes. And we have good old 1/4 mile Carlsbad Raceway near Carlsbad. We are very fortunate to have 3 legal and safe places to race. The way they're cracking down on street racing, we need 'em!
Wow! That was a horrible fire. I hope the driver got out okay. Did that end the racing? I watched my all original 50K mile 1970 GS 455 Stage 1 convert burn like that right in my own garage in 1999. Took down the whole garage and the other two cars in it too. The fire started in the garage, not the car. Lee
Small world isn't it? I'm Sassy or Sassy 2 on some other boards where the handle Slick was taken. Sassy is what we call my wife's GTP. Actually the one she now drives is Sassy 2 because the first Sassy (also a red GTP) was destroyed when our garage burned. Lee
