    Hey there

I just found a 1970 Buick Skylark 4 door in the local yard here and the engine is confusing me a little.

On the back of the intake it has 350/x cast into the back of the intake.
The casting numbers say it is a 1970 350 but I have never seen one with the x cast next to it.

    Is this an experimental intake?
or was this a high performance 4 door?

#s match the vin SP block

    Thanks for looking

I'm with you, confused and never saw one either. The SP is the high comp 315 HP engine. That's pretty rare to see in a lark.

Perhaps the car needed extra horsepower for towing a trailer?

Very interesting? For sure the desirable SP code 315 hp engine, and who knows maybe there was an experimental 350 that slipped out... Either way it was a sleeper 4 door!!

Not THAT unusual. Found one just like that in a yard about 25 years ago. Had the complete guage package AND the 24 clock. Don't remember about the intake though.

OK, here we go. Not sure the X means anything. It's a 1970 350-4 intake.

Does anyone else have an intake like this?

This is the first one I have seen with the X on it!
