Ok, think i know what the problem is, but id figured id get some other advice on here....Car has been randomly dieing lately..Idle is fine..its gets fuel alright, Power cuts out..it will fire the plugs, then quit.. We think the points/condensor might have burnt out..or possible the dist(its stock..car has Accel Super coild though..not sure if that would matter or not) What do you all think?
wont run o No: what does your fuel tank look like ? is there rust that you can see if you blow trough your fuel filter(if in-line)or clear)? my 71 skylark was doing sort of what you described when I first bought it. Turned out to be rust and scale clogging my fuel lines and filling up my carb. with crap and blocking the seats;the car would idle ok but as soon as you tried to give it gas it would die. I ended up putting another tank on.just an idea you might eliminate.(doesn't cost nuthin)otherwise I would also check your dist. good luck:TU:
I agree. This sounds like your best bet, right now. I had a similar problem in Alaska. Not a good climate to keep breaking down. Turns out that when the condensor would get warm, it would open and no more fire. Unfortunately, that also meant no more heat.:shock:
