Ray any year engine will work. The 71 is a great engine. I'd grab it if it's a good engine. Is it a running engine?

yeah i had a buddy just call me up out the blue and said it runs and even comes with the tranny.....all for 300 bucks, and he is a decent guy so i trust him and he is a good mechanic, so i think i will go ahead a swoop this up

Sounds like a sweet deal to me. Any engine is better than the engine in that regal. V6 or V8?

Yea you can file that under g for garbage. Or maybe someone has a need for it. You won't be dissapointed with the small block.

Keep the v6 motor mounts as they will make the swap a whole lot easier...

If by chance your V6 has 20 bolts in the oil pan and has a 109 as the last three digits of its casting number DO NOT throw it away. The 109 blocks weren't supposed to be out till 86, but your 85 may be close enough to the transition that it may have gotton the newer motor. The turbo guys love those 109 blocks. They're also worth a few hundred bucks.

you could use the same one but what about the donor car or spring for a boneyard rad in good shape??-get a tranny cooler too...

there is no donor car just the car that i am putting the 350 in, i will check some boneyards.......is the tranny cooler a must or is it something i could live without

My brother said the F-body rads fit in there well. He got his new from NAPA for $150 or so. It's aluminum with the plastic tanks.

Also, put a tranny cooler on (there ought to be one in the rad). Maybe even use a larger aftermarket one that you mount ahead of the rad. If you don't keep that tranny oil cool, you'll be changing it out too. The ideal temp for tranny oil is 175 degrees.

ahhh i see i think i am gonna do it, cause i wanna get this thing done and get it done right....thinking bought swapping out the heads and them maybe cam in it too

Start with a cam and work your way into the more expensive parts. Though, if you know that the motor runs, you could consider just running it as is.

ok i got the 350 motor in, now where would be the best place to find exhaust for it,salvage yard or local muffler shop, i don't want any high performance right now since it is all stock and i don't have headers yet, just something cheap that will quite it down a lil
