350 pistons, etc.

  1. My 68 GS has a 71 350 block, with 72 heads and intake. Along with the paperwork that came with it last fall, is a receipt for a complete rebuild of the engine back in '99. Among the listed items is "forged pistons TRW L2343F". Anyone know anything about these pistons? Are they supposed to keep the factory compression ratio, or do they increase the compression? Also lists a "Wolverine cam pkg", p/n maybe WG-1033. Anyone know anything about this cam? TH350 rebuild receipt also shows a "HS factory converter" $109.00 Any ideas on stall? The engine was also balanced. Suppose it made a few passes on the 1/4??

Those TRW pistons are very similar to a stock unit. The have the 17.3 cc dish which is .070 deep. These pistons are accepted as stock replacements for NHRA and IHRA. Compression ratio remains about the same.

    Don't know about the cam.

    Have Fun,

  3. Well, there it is! Thanks Isaac. I checked the NHRA site a couple months ago, and don't remember seeing the "stock piston repl. list" then. Must have been snoozing. I had seen the piston # in the engine blueprints section, but there's limited info there as to if it is "stock". That answers one question. The cam must be a fairly mild street/strip cam. It idles real well. Next, to solve my ticking under valve cover...
