Hello all. Not sure if I posted about this before as I cannot find a thread on it. I need some help with possibly getting a definitive answer on the transmission in the 1969 Buick Skylark I am working on. I did some "research" and I thought I had narrowed it down to a TH350. I ordered the dipstick for a TH350 (27 inches). When I tried it, the top of the dip stick was sticking out roughly 2 1/2 to 3 inches above the top of the tube. I am about to order a 24 and 1/8 dip stick to see if that will fit better, but when I check online it shows that length as going with a TH400 transmission. Can anyone tell from the pictures attached if this is a TH350 or a TH400. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated.
TH350. The problem is that there were different stick lengths used over the years on different applications from what I remember, which is why an original dipstick and tube should be used together for whatever application. In other words, a correct length dipstick in a shorter tube can be a problem, and vice-versa. You may need to try & find an original stick & tube combo for your '69 Skylark, or find someone that has an original who can measure their dipstick for you. But THAT only works if your tube is original, so you can see the dilemma here. Devon
