I just acquired a 340 small block with the original style breaker point distributor still in place.
I would like to install an electronic ignition distributor in it's place.
An MSD unit is my first choice but the only 1 they have for the Buick SB requires a 6A controller to make it work.
I like their Pro-billet series of distributors as I have had them on 3 different Buick BB engines and they run without the controller.
    So how about some suggestions.
Not interested in any Pertronix add ons!

    Thanks

What about using the big block MSD distributor and changing the drive gear to the small block gear?
I think the only difference between a big block and small block distributor is the drive gear.
    Any input on doing this?
    Has someone already tried it?

    Thanks Again

    alec296 i need another buick

The pertronix is a great choice. And the yes the big block distributer should work with just a gear change , be cautious as some gear roll pins can be different sizes. Advances wild have to be tuned for your need. But the 340 vacuum advance is manifold advance vs 70 and later is ported vacuum so advance comes in on acceleration vs at idle so you will need more mechanical advance to compensate . Pertronix has a nice complete distributer that will work well for you.
