Headers who wants 300/340 headers?
Sanderson Headers (650- 583-6617) of South San Francisco now makes ceramic coated 300/340 headers! This past year I met Sandersons main design engineer at a local Good Guys Car show. We got along well enough and before long I worked a deal with him to proto-type a set of headers for my 67 GS 340. Today, I picked up my car complete with the headers installed and my-o-my do they look nice. These headers are not the long swoopy type, they are short and theyll do the job for any street rod application. Now heres the good news Now that the templates are done, Sanderson will make more of these headers and theyll do it in small batches too. No more waiting on that east coast outfit to get off their backside.

Nice! That's how thick all header flanges should be...those babies will never warp.

Oh looky...you made a clean spot!

BTW... The photo of the driver side is very deceiving, as ther is plenty of room between the steering rod and the header.

LOL... Yes I know, but it's work in process. Give me 3 more months and I'll have that raty engine out, rebuild and looking good, and the bay also.
Ok... maybe 6 months, but that's my last offer

That is great news! Any word on price?

It would be interesting to see what kind of power gains can be had over the stock manifolds.

Thanks,
Brian

I have no idea what they are going to charge for this header. They have similar ones on their web site so I'd imagine that the price would be similar. You can always call them.

Bet they'd work on 215's too.

Hey, you know Rover cast aluminum valve covers will work on that 340.

I'd say so!

I looked at the offys but they didn't match up as well as the Rovers. Neither were that great. The rovers were too tight, (have to kiss the outside edge of the head for a nice fit) and the offys were loose. But the rovers were a whole lot cheaper so I went with them. The offys look better though.

Maybe they also match in a LeSabre with 340 ?

I think its just another angle for the connecion to the exhaust.?

I contacted Sanderson regarding their headers and they are going into the manufacturing phase and are ready to order. The plain steel are $325 and the ceramic coated are $475. The part number is BSV8 and the phone number is 800-669-2430. Save me a pair!!

Are the collectors located in the same location as the original manifold collectors? Do the collectors have a ball and flange type connection to the downpipes? I'm going to order a set for my '64 300.

Looks great and that thickness in the flange is awesome! Will the ceramic coated ones still discolor over time???

I ordered a set for my '64 300 and they should be here any day. Did you fabricate the downpipes or are they off the shelf? Magnaflow is producing downpipes for the 64-67 Skylarks but they are probably a month or two from production. I need them sooner than that. Original ones won't work since they are two bolt flange instead of three.

Not sure about the down pipes. Sanderson (Jay) built and installed my headers while I was doing some business traveling in Europe. It looks like he cutoff my factory down pipes and welded on standard 3 bolt header collector flanges. My pipes were only a year or two old so it was not a problem welding to them. These are short style headers but they are a little longer then the factory manifolds.
