I recall buying 30 lbers of r12 for $30 back in the day. If I had the stones, I'd buy a truckload of 30 lbers of r134a, because it will be $600 soon too.
Nope... not worth anything. You can ship it to me and I'll dispose of it for you! :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow:
Jason I passed on a 30lb tank of R-12 at a yard sale. The guy wanted $200.00 My wife"s cousin who is an A/C tech told me I missed a good deal? Bob H.
Ted, In Europe starting for 2011 NEW models (new models in Europe mean and entirely new chassis) the new refrigerant is required. All models must use the new refrigerant by 2017. The new refrigerant is R1234YF. GM has announced that they will begin using it in 2013 models (not all models but some) in the USA. It's not a "bad" refrigerant like when we switched from R12 to R134a. Were back to a bigger molecule so leaks are going to be less, pressures should be the same. Charges go up about 5%. BUT the price is going to be in the neighborhood of $30-$50 a pound. They made it like this to stop the "shadetree" mechanics from going to the local store everyweek to drop a 2lb can in because the leak is difficult or expensive to fix. If you have to pay $100 for that can you'll think twice, thats their idea. AND there was talk they will raise the price of R134a to $30-$50 a pound with taxes so people won't dump the R134a in the new system. Jason, If you serious about selling it PM me a price. I have my 609 certification so I can buy it.
Just shove it in a USPS flat rate box. If it fits it ships. Probably unrealistic to ship. If you can sell it locally, by all means do it.
R134A is used in many medium temp reach in coolers and process equipment. just because cars wont be using it doesnt mean it wont be made. I doubt it will go to $600 anytime soon. R22 however will be like gold due to it's phaseout
